Phi Alpha Kappa
Mission Statement
Phi Alpha Kappa is a non-sectarian community driven by our shared Christian faith. We believe that the Bible is the authoritative, inspired, and living Word of God. We affirm the Apostles' Creed as a basis for biblical truth, pointing to God's creatioin of the world and the deity, death, atonement, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Phi Alpha Kappa believes Christian brotherhood is both a gift and a calling from God, through which we are sanctified as indiiduals, partake in Christ's body, and are empowered to tranform Ann Arbor and beyond for his glory.
PAK: A Century of History
Phi Alpha Kappa was founded in 1929 by a group of Calvin College graduates studying at the University of Michigan. Spotting a distinct lack of Christian housing, they created a fraternity dedicated to providing wholesome fellowship for Christian brothers on campus. Over our almost century-long history, we’ve had three houses, ultimately settling in our current home at 1010 E Ann St in the fall of 1944. Today, Phi Alpha Kappa exists as one of the oldest fraternities on campus, a testament to the enduring blessing of God.
College is a place where diverse people with unique perspectives come together; Phi Alpha Kappa sees this diversity as a strength and seeks to foster in it an attitude of Christian acceptance. PAK is a place where members are free to make choices under the loving guidance of their fellow brothers. We believe this mindset fosters growth among our members as they assist one another in the pursuit of Godly wisdom.
