A year at PAK
There is always something on the calendar.
Some events are big traditions. Others are just an excuse to get everyone in the same room. These are a few of the things members look forward to each year.
Two semesters
The pledgeship timeline
Pledgeship gives you time to join chapter life, build real friendships, and decide whether PAK is right for you. It is not membership, and it never involves hazing.
Apply before the first Monday in October to begin in fall, or before the start of second semester to begin in winter.

How does recruitment start?
Schedule a visit, ask a housing question, or send a pledgeship application from this page. The Vice President receives it in the private PAK app.
How long is pledgeship?
Pledgeship lasts two semesters. Most weeks are light, while Pledge Week after spring break and a few other points in the year are busier. We explain expectations in advance, work around pledges’ schedules, and never pull anyone away from class.
What does membership cost?
The currently published member and pledge rate is $895 per month, including the meal plan. A $500 security deposit is required before move-in. Member dues are $225 for social activities and $20 for spiritual life each semester. Rates are set yearly.
Do members live in the house?
Members almost always choose to live in the Dutch House when rooms are open because the location, included meals, shared spaces, and daily community are central to PAK. A student living elsewhere may still pursue pledgeship. A small number of boarding spaces may sometimes be available.
What time commitment should I expect?
Monthly meeting nights can be long. Aside from those meetings and Pledge Week, the required time is almost always no more than a few hours in a week. Pledges may occasionally have a smaller-group activity with active members or other pledges, and we encourage everyone to join meals, worship, social events, intramurals, and everyday life at the house when they can.
Are there academic requirements?
PAK does not set a minimum grade requirement. The chapter emphasizes strong academics and supporting members who are struggling.
What leadership opportunities are available?
Members can run for President, Vice President, Secretary, and other elected or appointed chapter roles. We encourage new members to step into leadership soon after their pledgeship year, and many positions give them a practical way to serve the fraternity right away.
Are members involved elsewhere on campus?
Members have participated in campus ministries, churches, service organizations, engineering teams, and other University groups. Current involvement changes with the chapter.
